We will discuss the dynamics of SIS (susceptible-infected-susceptible) epidemic models, mostly of reaction-diffusion type. Our main interest is to understand the impact of movement on disease persistence in spatially heterogeneous environments.
Dr. Yuan Lou received his B.S. and M.S. degree from Beijing University and his Ph.D from the University of Minnesota. He was a postdoc at MSRI and the University of Chicago. He has been a faculty member of Ohio State University since 1998. His main research interest is on the theory and applications of reaction-diffusion equations to biology.
