In this talk, we discuss two models: a Hele-Shaw problem with a lifting plate and the dynamics of a permeable vesicle in Stokes flow. Unlike the classical HeleShaw with an expanding interface and vesicles with conserved volumes, a unique feature of these two models is that the interface (separating interior and exterior fluids) shrinks. We will present the numerical issues when computing a shrinking interface and methods to tackle these challenges.
